About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver scalable solutions using cutting-edge technologies and data systems
Design and implement complex distributed systems
Work across all parts of the banking backend
Solve problems beyond the borders of the immediate team

Read code and design and deliver systems that meet demanding client requirements
Develop and deploy JVM-based microservices through all stages of the development lifecycle

Requirements

What you’ll need

Solid Java software development skillset, ideally utilising Java 21 or higher and the Spring framework, in particular Spring Boot 3.x.x
Demonstrable Test-driven-development mindset, with good experience writing unit, integration, and functional tests for web services
Experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture
Prior experience working with SQL databases and strong knowledge of PostgreSQL
Interest in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment and experience with build tools such as Gradle / Maven
Interest in development lifecycle processes, best practices, and operating distributed cloud-based microservices
Strong knowledge of designing and building RESTful APIs
Experience building and deploying production-level microservices using Docker / Kubernetes / Helm
Proven experience developing JVM-based microservices running in Kubernetes and taking them through all stages of the development life cycle
Proven experience building cloud-based solutions using AWS
Knowledge of event streaming technologies such as Kafka
Excellent communication skills, solid work ethic, and desire to write production-quality code
Experience delivering software in an Agile manner as part of a Scrum team
Ability to write high-quality, clean, reliable, maintainable, and performant code
Ability to assess technical trade-offs and deliverables needed to create optimal solutions
