About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement 350 Japan’s organizing strategy
- Lead short- and long-term organizing efforts for campaigns, global moments, or key projects
- Contribute to the development of an effective global climate movement strategy
- Strengthen and expand the 350 Japan volunteer community
- Mentor and support activist leaders
- Design and deliver training programs for individuals, groups, and leaders
- Ensure training aligns with 350 Japan’s campaign goals and cultural relevance
- Identify, engage, and recruit new movement participants
- Support discovery and development of emerging leaders
- Engage the general public to raise awareness and recruit volunteers and activists
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with existing groups and movements for collaborative climate-justice action
- Provide timely progress and challenge updates to the line manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong passion for addressing climate change and a basic understanding of the issue
- Deep commitment to building a joyful, inclusive movement grounded in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Ability to develop sharp, actionable organizing strategies for short- and long-term campaigns and movement growth
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow as an organizer
- Self-motivation and ability to work remotely, effectively, and sustainably without daily oversight
- Kind, collaborative team player who values accountability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to think critically and creatively
- Comfortable using or willing to learn digital organizing tools, including CRM (ActionKit), Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, LINE, Canva, and Instagram
- Native-level Japanese fluency
- Business-level English proficiency
- Legal authorization to work for any employer in the applicant's country of residence
- 5+ years of organizing experience or 3+ years in climate-focused movement organizing (desired but not required)
