About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Apply computer science and mathematical analysis principles to software and systems design, development, testing, and evaluation
- Work as part of an Agile team and participate in Scrum activities
- Perform programming, development, integration, and system administration assignments independently
- Design, code, test, and debug high-complexity programs
- Configure and customize complex purchased software solutions
- Provide project management, programming, systems, and system administration leadership and assistance to team members
- Identify and resolve complex application and technical problems
- Work independently on complex processes and modules supporting programs, systems, and infrastructure change management
- Develop major system modules, programs, and infrastructure releases from customer requirements
- Perform integrated and customer acceptance testing of system components
- Perform integration tasks for internally developed systems and purchased hardware and software solutions
- Assist customers with documentation, training, and usability efforts
- Review and approve modifications to databases and database management systems
- Direct database development and approve project scope and limitations
- Estimate time and cost for database projects
- Plan, coordinate, and implement information security measures
- Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise installation and testing of new products and system improvements
- Develop software-use, acquisition, and information-protection standards and guidelines
- Mentor staff and provide constructive performance feedback
- Report to the Software Engineering Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, plus 8+ years of experience
- Alternatively, 6+ years of experience with a master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of software development experience, or at least 6 years with a master’s degree
- 8+ years of experience designing and developing Java software applications, or at least 6 years of Java experience with a master’s degree
- At least 3 years of AWS development experience, including CloudFormation templates, ECS clusters, Lambda, Fargate, Amazon Elasticsearch, S3, and IAM roles and policies
- At least 3 years of experience building and developing with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with Gen AI for software development
- Experience deploying and maintaining software at scale
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with application architectural patterns such as MVC, Microservices, and event-driven architecture
- Experience deploying software using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps
- Experience working within an Agile framework, ideally Scrum
- Experience with batch or stream processing systems such as AWS SQS, SNS, and Kinesis
- Experience designing RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with Swagger, Postman, and Assertible
- Experience with test-driven development and behavior-driven development
- Hands-on experience with Selenium and Cucumber and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with databases including DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, or Oracle
- Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms
- Expert ability to work independently and manage time
- Expert mentoring skills
- Expert knowledge of the full software development lifecycle
- Expert troubleshooting ability
- Expert knowledge of computer hardware and software
- Knowledge of development software such as SQL and Visual Basic
- Ability to participate in a second-round in-person interview
- Ability to respond to off-shift and weekend support calls
