About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop test automation code for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery of systems, infrastructure, and test frameworks
Plan, design, develop, and maintain API test automation frameworks for scripting, execution, and results analysis
Provide technical leadership and mentoring for test engineers across multiple onshore and offshore applications/projects
Train and mentor project team members to create, execute, analyze, and maintain automated regression suites
Coordinate with the product owner to resolve open issues, enhancements, and upgrades and understand functionality as needed
Develop automated functional scripts using Java, Karate, and JMeter
Perform exploratory and manual testing of the product suite as appropriate
Provide expertise in testing methodologies, best practices, and standards
Take ownership of features from testing strategy through execution and maintenance
Conduct pull request reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need

8–10 years of overall experience in software testing/SDET roles
Strong hands-on Java programming experience
Proven experience designing and developing automation frameworks using Java
Strong REST API testing and backend testing experience
Experience with UI automation and functional testing
Good understanding of BDD frameworks and Cucumber
Karate or REST Assured experience
Ability to independently develop test strategies, test plans, and automation solutions
Experience taking ownership of features from testing strategy through execution and maintenance
Experience mentoring junior team members and conducting PR reviews
Willingness to attend the second interview onsite in Chicago
Bachelor's and Master's degree and 8+ years of experience
Strong design and development skills in two or more of Java, Cucumber, JBehave, or other BDD testing frameworks; Java and Cucumber listed with 3–5 years
At least 8 years of test automation framework design
Strong experience testing Webservices (REST APIs), listed as 3+5 years
Proven experience developing test scripts, test cases, and test data
Ability to write queries in SQL or other relational databases
3+ years of experience developing scenario-based performance testing using JMeter
Experience testing full stack and integration testing with 3rd parties
End-to-end system integration testing experience for software platforms
Hands-on Python experience desired
AWS Cloud development experience desired
TDD, continuous integration, and code review practice strongly desired
Apigee or other API gateways experience is a plus
Experience with DevOps concepts and tools such as CI/CD, Jenkins, and Git
At least 2 years working on an Agile team with understanding of Agile/Lean practices
Understanding of microservice architecture
Load and performance testing experience
Strong documentation skills
Ability to adapt quickly to a complex environment
Proactive, flexible, and creative
Very strong communication and collaboration skills with developers and business users
