About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build AI agents and automated workflows for clinic operations, including insurance benefits verification, prior authorizations, patient intake, claims, and clinical documentation
  • Build features for clinicians, patients, families, and the internal operations team on web and mobile
  • Take ambiguous problems from 0 to 1 with operators and clinicians
  • Define problems, write specifications, and ship initial versions
  • Design services, data models, and APIs
  • Manage infrastructure as code
  • Own services in production, including deployments, monitoring, and incident response
  • Write evaluations for model-facing features and track workflow metrics
  • Handle protected health information safely using least-privilege access, no PHI in logs, and auditable changes
  • Build and maintain skills, plugins, MCP integrations, and review bots used with Claude Code and Codex
  • Work across the platform in a flat engineering team without sub-teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software
  • Recent, hands-on experience using or building AI harnesses beyond simply calling a model API, including project instructions, tools and MCP servers, skills, hooks, subagents, and evals
  • At least one personal project built and published on the web that is live and usable by anyone
  • Ideally, a SaaS personal project with working payments such as Stripe
  • Strong full-stack skills in Python and TypeScript
  • Experience across frontend, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure
  • Comfort working in a large, established codebase
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs, including tool use, agent orchestration, structured outputs, retrieval, and evals
  • Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor
  • Experience configuring AI coding agents with project instructions, skills, MCP servers, hooks, and subagents
  • Ability to run several AI coding-agent tasks in parallel and carefully review their output
  • Good product sense and ability to make UI decisions without a dedicated designer
  • High agency and ability to unblock yourself
  • Clear written communication
  • Nice to have: healthcare or regulated-industry experience, including HIPAA, payer and claims workflows, EHR integrations, or HL7/FHIR
  • Nice to have: Temporal or another durable workflow engine
  • Nice to have: React Native
  • Nice to have: running LLM evaluations or safety checks on model output in production
  • Nice to have: building an agent harness, MCP server, or coding-agent plugin
  • Nice to have: open-source work or internal tools used by others
