About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build AI agents and automated workflows for clinic operations, including insurance benefits verification, prior authorizations, patient intake, claims, and clinical documentation
  • Build web and mobile features for clinicians, patients, families, and the internal operations team
  • Take ambiguous problems from 0 to 1 by working with operators and clinicians to define the problem, write the specification, and ship a first version
  • Design services, data models, and APIs; manage infrastructure as code
  • Own services in production, including deployments, monitoring, and incident response
  • Write evaluations for model-facing features and track workflow metrics
  • Handle protected health information safely with least-privilege access, no PHI in logs, and auditable changes
  • Build and maintain skills, plugins, MCP integrations, and review bots used by engineers with Claude Code and Codex
  • Work across the platform in a flat engineering team without sub-teams
  • Own features end to end, including collaboration with clinicians and operators, design, implementation, deployment, and production performance follow-up

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software
  • Recent, hands-on experience using or building AI harnesses beyond simply calling a model API, including project instructions, tools and MCP servers, skills, hooks, subagents, or evals
  • At least one personal project built and published on the web that is live and usable by anyone; ideally a SaaS with working payments such as Stripe
  • Track record of owning products or features end to end, from an unclear problem to a system people depend on
  • Strong full-stack skills in Python and TypeScript, across frontend, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure
  • Comfort working in a large, established codebase
  • Hands-on experience building with LLMs, including tool use, agent orchestration, structured outputs, retrieval, and evals; LangGraph, an agents SDK, or similar
  • Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, including configuring project instructions, skills, MCP servers, hooks, and subagents; running parallel tasks and carefully reviewing output
  • Good product sense and ability to make UI decisions without a dedicated designer, using a component library
  • High agency and ability to unblock yourself, find context, and ask questions when needed
  • Clear written communication
  • Nice to have: healthcare or regulated-industry experience, including HIPAA, payer and claims workflows, EHR integrations, or HL7/FHIR
  • Nice to have: Temporal or another durable workflow engine
  • Nice to have: React Native
  • Nice to have: production LLM evaluations or safety checks
  • Nice to have: own agent harness, MCP server, or coding-agent plugin
  • Nice to have: open-source work or internal tools used by others
