About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build AI agents and automated workflows for clinic operations, including insurance benefits verification, prior authorizations, patient intake, claims, and clinical documentation
  • Build web and mobile features for clinicians, patients, families, and the internal operations team
  • Take ambiguous problems from 0 to 1 by defining problems with operators and clinicians, writing specifications, and shipping first versions
  • Design services, data models, and APIs and manage infrastructure as code
  • Own services in production, including deployments, monitoring, and incident response
  • Write evaluations for model-facing features and track workflow metrics
  • Handle protected health information safely using least-privilege access, avoiding PHI in logs, and maintaining auditable changes
  • Build and maintain skills, plugins, MCP integrations, and review bots used with Claude Code and Codex
  • Work end to end across the platform in a flat engineering team
  • Collaborate with clinicians and operators who use the products and follow feature performance in production

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software
  • Recent, hands-on experience using or building AI harnesses beyond simple model API calls, including project instructions, tools and MCP servers, skills, hooks, subagents, or evals
  • At least one personal project built and published on the web, live and usable by anyone; ideally a SaaS with working payments such as Stripe
  • End-to-end product or feature ownership from ambiguous problem definition through production
  • Strong full-stack skills in Python and TypeScript across frontend, backend, databases, and cloud infrastructure
  • Comfort working in a large, established codebase
  • Hands-on LLM experience including tool use, agent orchestration, structured outputs, retrieval, and evaluations
  • Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, including configuring project instructions, skills, MCP servers, hooks, and subagents; running parallel tasks and reviewing output
  • Product sense and ability to make UI decisions without a dedicated designer
  • Ability to work with high agency and unblock yourself
  • Clear written communication
  • Nice to have: healthcare or regulated-industry experience, including HIPAA, payer and claims workflows, EHR integrations, or HL7/FHIR
  • Nice to have: Temporal or another durable workflow engine
  • Nice to have: React Native
  • Nice to have: production LLM evaluations or safety checks
  • Nice to have: building an agent harness, MCP server, or coding-agent plugin
  • Nice to have: open-source work or internal tools used by others
