About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage the work of all production employees
Oversee production and shipping schedules based on raw and finished goods availability
Provide hands-on leadership as a working manager
Mentor and coach employees and manage employee relations issues
Support plant administration and policy compliance
Assist with the new hire process and make employment decisions within the plant
Consult with the General Manager on plant cost and yield performance
Support and implement cost-control and process-control initiatives
Review operations and local transportation activities for compliance with Federal, State, and local laws
Drive safety improvements across the plant
Ensure consistent execution of SOPs
Deliver operational best practices and cost efficiencies while maintaining quality and raw material utilization standards
Implement and manage Lean opportunities to eliminate waste
Recruit, train, develop, evaluate, motivate, delegate, and monitor plant staff
Improve asset utilization through transportation scheduling, dispatch, and driver management
Deliver safety, service, quality, and cost results to exceed customer expectations

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Operations/Supply Chain or related field
Six Sigma/Lean certification preferred
5+ years of experience in a supervisory role in an engineering or manufacturing environment
Familiarity with private fleet management/transportation preferred
Demonstrated success in motivating and delivering strong employee relations with non-exempt employees
Experience managing safety performance and programs
Ability to work in extreme conditions including heat, cold, and air particulate
Ability to repetitively lift up to 50–75 pounds
Ability to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths
Personal Protective Equipment required, including eye protection, ear protection at several locations, and safety shoes
Close vision, distance vision, and color vision required
