About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and support a variety of applications
- Provide support within the database environment for a U.S. Government client
- Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods
- Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirements specifications
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop detailed implementation requirements
- Establish and coordinate standards, practices, and procedures related to product development
- Design interfaces and integrate system elements
- Assess system performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
- Act as a customer liaison and support business development activities
- Participate in system conceptual design and document design concepts
- Participate in hardware and software design reviews
- Develop system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures
- Review test plans and procedures and participate in testing activities
- Modify existing databases and database management systems, or direct required changes
- Develop and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify database identifiers
- Coordinate database development as part of a project team
- Determine project scope, requirements, and limitations
- Review database project requests and estimate completion time and cost
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years of IBM z/OS mainframe experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, TSO/ISPF, and Endevor
- Strong knowledge of IDMS and ADSO (Application Development System Online)
- Ability to design, code, and test software based on defined requirements
- Basic understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, functional specification development, coding, testing, and delivery
- Familiarity with Agile methodology is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Must be a US Citizen (no dual citizenship)
- Able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance
- Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years
- Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last 5 years; military service excluded
