About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establish and manage tax filing accounts and act as the main point of contact for federal and state tax agencies
  • Review, validate, and adjust payroll tax documents and reports for accuracy
  • Investigate complex payroll tax issues and provide guidance to colleagues and clients
  • Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting and end-of-year W-2/W-3 processing
  • Maintain timely updates in Master Tax and payroll tax processes
  • Oversee client tax funding activities and resolve reconciliation items
  • Maintain and improve payroll tax policies, procedures, and documentation
  • Recommend workflow enhancements
  • Provide training and support to team members while maintaining regulatory compliance and confidentiality
  • Conduct tax research and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain payroll tax accuracy and client satisfaction

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in the tax field or 4+ years directly related to payroll tax in a corporate or service provider environment
  • Experience with Master Tax or similar payroll tax systems preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating information and resolving intricate payroll tax issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, other business software, and industry-specific systems
  • Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, and team members
