About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and maintain automated UI and API tests using Playwright and TypeScript across application repositories and shared automation libraries
Build and maintain smoke, regression, and integration coverage using Playwright tagging and test selection patterns
Create and maintain automated tests that run reliably in GitLab CI/CD pipelines on merge requests and scheduled runs
Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and QA analysts to define testing strategies, clarify acceptance criteria, and support shift-left testing
Investigate test failures, distinguish test issues from product defects, and report clear, reproducible defects with evidence
Participate in code reviews for test code and follow team standards for readability, maintainability, and reliability
Help upskill manual QA teammates through pairing, review feedback, and practical guidance on Playwright and TypeScript automation patterns
Contribute to performance and load testing initiatives when needed
Advocate for testability, automation best practices, and continuous improvement aligned with DevOps and Agile delivery

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
4+ years of experience in test automation or software development in test
Strong proficiency in TypeScript for test automation
Hands-on experience building and maintaining UI and API automated tests
Hands-on experience with CI/CD and integrating automated tests into pipelines
Strong understanding of testing strategies for UI, API, integration, and regression
Experience with SQL or data validation across UI, API, and backend layers
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and shift-left testing practices
Ability to work in the USA for this role
Must not require or potentially require employer-sponsored immigration support now or in the future
Preferred: Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry
Preferred: Exposure to Docker and testing in lower environments
Preferred: Experience with JMeter or Gatling
Preferred: Knowledge of security testing practices
Preferred: Experience mentoring, pairing with, or coaching teammates on test automation
Preferred: Familiarity with contract testing or validating API behavior against OpenAPI or schema definitions
