About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with insurance statistical data, internal business data, and external data sources supporting Actuarial Data & Reporting
- Support regulatory reporting and internal initiatives such as Data Harmonization
- Understand regulatory reporting regulations, requirements, data sources, quality assurance, and reporting
- Ensure data and reporting are well managed, accurate, complete, and delivered by business and regulatory deadlines
- Design and maintain data systems and databases to high-quality standards
- Implement continuous, automated quality assurance and fix coding and data-related problems
- Participate in peer review and comply with data governance standards
- Analyze data relationships to determine data quality and statistical validity
- Analyze primary and secondary data sources and reorganize data for human or machine readability
- Prepare accurate, timely executive reports communicating trends, patterns, and predictions
- Create and maintain documentation enabling stakeholders to understand and replicate analyses
- Provide customer support to AAIS Members regarding data submission quality
- Collaborate with Actuarial on automation of actuarial analyses, analytic products, Data Harmonization, and testing processes
- Collaborate with data customers to organize, communicate, and manage data assets
- Analyze and visualize large, complex, and unique data sets
- Perform additional duties as assigned or requested
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Business, Math, Computer Science, or another data engineering-related discipline
- 5+ years of full-time experience in data analysis and SQL & Python programming
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft 360 suite, including Power BI
- 7+ years of property casualty insurance industry experience in an analytic or statistical capacity OR Master’s Degree in an analytic field
- Exposure to, ongoing education and training in, and hands-on experience with Data Governance concepts and practice, including analytic methods and tools
- Experience in analytical models and leveraging data to make business decisions
- Working knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance products and statistical data
- Intermediate to advanced skills in writing SQL queries and working with databases
- Previous exposure to large structured and unstructured data sets, including statistical analyses and data visualization
- Databricks experience is a plus
- A record of success and top-tier achievement in prior work and education experiences
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet agreed-upon deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, critical-thinking, collaboration, and mentoring skills
- Minimum travel for annual all-company gatherings or team design sessions, up to 5% of the time
