Key responsibilities & impact

Specify, research, design, and develop scalable optimization algorithms for large, complex resource allocation problems
Apply machine learning, integer optimisation, metaheuristic, and other algorithms to improve solution quality and computational efficiency
Collaborate with researchers and software engineers to translate research into commercial product capabilities
Evaluate new approaches against realistic problem sizes, constraints, and performance requirements
Publish at leading international conferences
Contribute to patent applications
Develop and maintain documentation for novel algorithms
Integrate research efforts into practical capabilities operating at the scale and speed required by production systems

Requirements

What you’ll need

A PhD and/or 3+ years of equivalent research experience in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related field
Strong skills in Python
Experience working in Linux environments
Track record of publishing in leading venues such as NeurIPS, ICLR/ICML, INFOCOM/IEEE, SIGCOMM, MobiCom, or ICC/GLOBECOM
Ability to work proactively in a self-motivated way
Experience with reinforcement learning/machine learning and associated Python libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX, or integer optimisation and libraries such as Gurobi, CBC, or Google OR tools, or network science, graph theory, geometric deep learning, representation learning on dynamic graphs, or metaheuristic algorithms
Experience working in wireless communication, satellite communications, and/or software-defined networking preferred
Experience deploying optimization or ML models into production systems with real-time or near-real-time performance constraints preferred
Familiarity with satellite orbital mechanics, RF link budgets, or scheduling problems in constrained networks preferred
Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Ray or Dask preferred
Contributions to open-source optimization, ML, or networking libraries preferred
Experience mentoring junior researchers or engineers, or leading small technical workstreams preferred
Applicants must meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements as a U.S. person, be eligible to access export-controlled information without authorization, or be eligible and reasonably likely to obtain export authorization
