About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform and provide engineering services for the design and construction of projects
- Delegate tasks and assignments across projects using Team Gantt
- Ensure technical quality, on-time delivery, QA/QC completion, and compliance with submission requirements
- Coordinate design elements with other disciplines and departments
- Facilitate and engage with new clients in support of business development
- Interface with clients to meet project needs and requirements
- Review shop drawing submittals for compliance with contract documents
- Perform site investigations and site analysis surveys
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and resolve problems using engineering principles
- Mentor onboarding designers, junior engineers, and subordinate staff
- Maintain project documentation using Newforma Konekt
- Conduct peer review and editing of projects
- Maintain knowledge of codes, standards, and local regulations
- Contribute to company-wide standards and processes
- Manage department workload prioritization and staffing across multiple projects
- Implement and design systems meeting client standards
- Provide life safety analysis and review design submittals
- Supervise Staff Engineers, Engineers, and Designers, with 1–3 direct reports and 1–4 indirect reports
- See projects through from contract and proposals to final results
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; the position text also specifies electrical engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited institution
- Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Current/Active NCEES registration in good standing
- Minimum of 10 years in engineering and project management experience working for an MEP Engineering Firm or an AE Firm, or equivalent combination of education and compliance experience (preferred)
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Proficient knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, SKM Power Tools, and Visual (or AGI32); Creo Parametric proficiency is a plus
- Knowledge and expertise in Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Communications, and Electronic Security systems
- Proficient in one-line distribution diagramming, signal degradation, short-circuit analysis, and energy usage
- Strong written, oral, interpersonal, presentation, and advanced communication skills
- Knowledge of 3D imaging cameras and engineering concepts
- Strong project management, strategic planning, problem-solving, organization, multitasking, time management, and scheduling skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Comfortable traveling up to 20%
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.
- LEED BD+C Certification, healthcare engineering experience, PMP license, and OSHA Training are preferred or plus
