About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support federal agency modernization by building, deploying, automating, and maintaining secure and efficient cloud environments
- Work under a lead architect on hands-on implementation and operational support for cloud projects
- Use Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code to create reusable modules and enforce secure configurations
- Engineer and manage GCP compute, networking, security, and automation services
- Deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications with GKE
- Develop and support serverless applications with Cloud Run, particularly Python-based services
- Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and tracing
- Troubleshoot complex cloud systems, including performance, network connectivity, GKE, and IAM permissions
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs
- Ensure predictable, agency-aligned GCP operations compliant with federal frameworks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of six (6) years setting up, configuring and using GCP cloud operational tools to meet service level agreements, performance targets, and compliance requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or technical discipline
- Expertise in GCP core services, including Compute Engine for Linux (Red Hat) and Windows
- Experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Run, and Python-based services
- Strong understanding of VPC, DNS, Load Balancing, hybrid connectivity, firewalls, and network security policies
- Advanced knowledge of GCP IAM, custom roles and policies, and Workload Identity Federation (WIF)
- Experience with Secret Manager, Pub/Sub, VPC Service Controls, and VM Binary Authorization
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Terraform reusable modules
- Experience developing and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build and GitHub Actions
- Advanced troubleshooting across performance, networking, GKE, and IAM permissions
- Ability to implement and manage monitoring, logging, and tracing
- Ability to create and maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Must have US work authorization without current or future visa sponsorship
