About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide executive leadership and overall management of all project phases, including pre-construction, procurement support, construction, testing, and commissioning
- Oversee multiple design-build and/or alternative delivery contracts, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget objectives
- Serve as primary liaison with client executive leadership, project controls, legal, third-party stakeholders, local jurisdictions, and regulatory agencies
- Lead contract administration, change management, claims avoidance and resolution, risk management, and contract compliance
- Establish and enforce project governance, reporting structures, and performance metrics consistent with rail standards and FTA / FRA requirements
- Direct multidisciplinary teams covering construction management, design support, quality assurance, safety, environmental compliance, and stakeholder coordination
- Coordinate permitting, utility relocations, traffic control, and community impacts
- Oversee project controls systems, including cost management, scheduling, and risk tracking
- Lead executive-level reporting, including briefings, Board reports, and stakeholder presentations
- Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented environment to resolve issues and maintain project momentum
- Deliver major rail and transit infrastructure programs for Accenture Construct, Accenture’s global capital projects business
- Work across remote, client-site, and Accenture office or center locations, with in-person collaboration as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in the management and delivery of major rail and transit infrastructure projects of comparable size and complexity, preferably within the NYC metro area
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required – New York strongly preferred
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification
- Prior experience on large-scale transit projects, MTA, NJT, Amtrak, or similar large urban / rail transit systems
- Familiarity with MTA policies, procedures, and project delivery frameworks
- Strong local knowledge of NY / NJ communities and stakeholder landscape
- Proven track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining safety and quality excellence
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects using alternative delivery methods, such as Design-Build, CM/GC, and P3
- Strong understanding of associated risk allocation and contract structures
- Extensive knowledge of construction contracts, means and methods, engineering coordination, and claims management
- Knowledge of dispute resolution strategies
- Proven expertise in managing multiple concurrent construction contracts on large-scale transit programs
- Strong understanding of owner versus contractor risks and responsibilities, particularly within alternative delivery environments
- Direct experience working with local agencies and municipalities in the Greater NYC metro area, including public works, utilities, and permitting authorities
- Experience with federal funding programs, including compliance, reporting, and funding requirements
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage large, multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments
- Ability to prepare and deliver executive presentations, technical reports, and formal correspondence
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-profile program environment
