About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review and understand project scope and required services prior to commissioning activities
  • Review protection schemes for incorporation into new designs
  • Develop commissioning plans, including outage and energization plans
  • Develop commissioning forms for testing documentation
  • Collaborate with contractors, design engineers, operations teams, and clients
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams during commissioning
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve testing, commissioning, and energization issues
  • Deliver all required documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must have a BS/BA degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET (or Owner approved equivalent) accredited college/university
  • 5 years’ experience in construction, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment; relay protection and control systems; start-up and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems; electrical field engineering; arc flash safety training; troubleshooting of electrical equipment or systems
  • Specialized advanced training in SCADA and communication systems (e.g., PTI, WPI, ECNE PUI, or a graduate level engineering degree)
  • Professional experience in commissioning and testing of electrical substations, including supervision of construction, commissioning, and energization activities
  • Professional knowledge of electrical systems, protection & control, and substation equipment
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams in the field
  • Professional experience with problem-solving and decision-making under project deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site across New York State
