About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design scalable solutions by developing and maintaining Java-based backend applications and microservices
- Implement Spring Boot applications using clean-code, testing, and performance-optimization best practices
- Work with DevOps to containerize and deploy applications and integrate CI/CD pipelines
- Use event-driven architecture to build robust asynchronous systems with decoupled services
- Design and maintain efficient relational database integrations
- Participate in architectural discussions and perform code reviews
- Promote strong engineering standards and best practices
- Use AI code companions and intelligent development tools to improve productivity, accelerate development, and maintain code quality
- Mentor junior developers and foster collaboration and continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in backend software development using Java 8 or above
- Strong proficiency with Spring Boot and the Spring framework ecosystem
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful microservices
- Proficiency in writing optimized SQL queries and working with databases
- Working knowledge of Apache Kafka or similar messaging platforms
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, message-driven systems, and distributed systems
- Good understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
- Experience with Git, Agile development practices, and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
- Hands-on experience with AI code companions and intelligent development tools
- Strong English communication skills
- Regular use of AI tools to improve productivity and automate or reduce repetitive work
- Ability to structure effective prompts, critically validate AI outputs, understand limitations, and take ownership of final results
- German language skills are a plus
- Familiarity with performance tuning and monitoring Java applications is a plus
- Knowledge of security best practices in backend development is a plus
- Full-stack development experience with Angular or React is a plus
