About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, coaching, and assessment for Level 4 and 5 Residential Childcare apprenticeships or employer-based qualifications
  • Manage an agreed caseload of apprentices and employer-based learners
  • Provide training, coaching, mentoring, assessment, feedback, and pastoral support
  • Assess learner starting points and plan and sequence training covering knowledge, skills, behaviours, English, and maths
  • Develop individual training plans with employers and prepare learners for final or end-point assessment
  • Provide learner and employer induction and clarify collaborative responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training and learning strategies, activities, and resources
  • Comply with Acorn Training and Awarding Organisation standards and quality assurance processes
  • Plan and monitor off-the-job training within apprentices’ training plans
  • Support development of learners’ English, maths, and digital skills
  • Promote Safeguarding, Prevent, Radicalisation, Equality, Diversity, and Fundamental British Values
  • Organise assessments and regular learner/employer review meetings, set targets, monitor progress, and provide documented developmental feedback
  • Provide information, advice, and guidance throughout learner programmes
  • Manage objectives, deadlines, training outcomes, and achievement timescales
  • Conduct employer health and safety risk assessment reviews where necessary
  • Maintain an electronic diary of learner workplace sessions and visits in line with lone-working policy
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of apprentices, employers, visits, and interactions
  • Deliver teaching, learning, and assessment in both one-to-one and group sessions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and employers to coordinate assessment processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Level 5 qualification in subject sector specialism (essential)
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (essential)
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent (essential)
  • GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to vehicle for travel (essential)
  • Current and continuing involvement within the residential childcare / education and training sector (essential)
  • Significant experience working as a Residential Childcare practitioner (essential)
  • Experience meeting targets for timely achievement (essential)
  • Experience working successfully as part of a team (essential)
  • Up-to-date knowledge and competence of residential childcare regulations and practices (essential)
  • Understanding of and commitment to Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Counterterrorism legislation as applied to teaching, learning and assessment (essential)
