About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, coaching, and assessment for Level 4 and 5 Residential Childcare apprenticeships or employer-based qualifications
  • Manage an agreed caseload of apprentices and employer-based learners
  • Provide training, coaching, mentoring, assessment, feedback, pastoral support, and information, advice and guidance
  • Assess learners’ starting points and use them to plan and sequence training, including English and maths development
  • Develop individual training plans with employers and prepare learners for final or end-point assessment
  • Provide learner and employer induction programmes
  • Develop and implement training and learning strategies, activities, and resources
  • Ensure compliance with Acorn Training and awarding organisation standards and quality assurance processes
  • Plan and monitor off-the-job training
  • Support development of learners’ English, maths, and digital skills
  • Promote safeguarding, Prevent, radicalisation awareness, equality, diversity, and Fundamental British values
  • Organise assessments and regular learner/employer review meetings; set targets and document developmental feedback
  • Manage timescales, objectives, deadlines, training outcomes, and achievement
  • Conduct employer health and safety risk assessment reviews where necessary
  • Maintain electronic diaries, learner workplace visits, and accurate electronic records

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Level 5 qualification in subject sector specialism (essential)
  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (essential)
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent (essential)
  • GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)
  • Full, clean driving licence and access to vehicle for travel (essential)
  • Current and continuing involvement within the residential childcare / education and training sector (essential)
  • Significant experience working as a Residential Childcare practitioner (essential)
  • Meeting targets for timely achievement (essential)
  • Working successfully as part of a team (essential)
  • Up to date knowledge and competence of residential childcare regulations and practices (essential)
  • Good understanding of and commitment to Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Counterterrorism legislation as it applies to teaching, learning and assessment (essential)
