About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver high-quality teaching, coaching, and assessment for Level 4 and 5 Residential Childcare apprenticeship standards or employer-based qualifications
- Manage an agreed caseload of apprentices and employer-based learners
- Provide training, coaching, mentoring, assessment, feedback, information, advice and guidance
- Assess learners’ starting points and use them to plan and sequence training
- Develop individual training plans with employers
- Provide comprehensive induction programmes for learners and employers
- Develop and implement training and learning strategies, activities and resources
- Ensure training and assessment comply with Acorn Training and Awarding Organisation quality assurance requirements
- Plan and monitor off-the-job training
- Support learners’ English, maths and digital skills development
- Provide pastoral support and promote Safeguarding, Prevent, Radicalisation, Equality, Diversity and Fundamental British values
- Organise assessments and regular learner/employer review meetings
- Monitor objectives, deadlines, training outcomes and achievement
- Conduct employer health and safety risk assessment reviews when necessary
- Maintain an electronic diary of learner workplace visits and interactions
- Maintain accurate apprentice and employer records in electronic systems
- Meet performance indicators concerning learner progress, feedback quality, teaching and assessment standards, stakeholder collaboration, satisfaction and timely achievement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Level 5 qualification in subject sector specialism (essential)
- Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (essential)
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent (essential)
- GCSE grade A*-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential)
- Full, clean driving licence and access to vehicle for travel (essential)
- Current and continuing involvement within the residential childcare / education and training sector (essential)
- Significant experience working as a Residential Childcare practitioner (essential)
- Experience meeting targets for timely achievement (essential)
- Experience working successfully as part of a team (essential)
- Up-to-date knowledge and competence of residential childcare regulations and practices (essential)
- Good understanding of and commitment to Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding and Counterterrorism legislation as applied to teaching, learning and assessment (essential)
- Competence using ICT to support teaching, learning, assessment and communication (essential)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good record keeping skills and attention to detail
- Efficient time management
