About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations of a growing insurance agency
Supervise AP/AR activities
Review agency billing accounting operations
Oversee commission revenue reporting and reconciliations
Manage a small accounting support team, including external and overseas resources
Provide guidance and resolve operational issues
Improve workflows and ensure accurate financial processing
Coach team members and provide feedback on performance and career growth
Set team deadlines and priorities
Build and maintain relationships with Acrisure personnel and partners
Follow up on projects and hold others accountable for deadlines and administrative responsibilities
Maintain compliance with industry regulations, best practices, and accounting policies
Implement and maintain carrier payables policies, procedures, and controls
Perform quality assurance reviews of accounting-policy compliance
Identify financial risks and raise issues with suggested solutions to the People Leader
Participate in special projects and initiatives
Prepare monthly Premiums Payable Worksheets
Calculate and post monthly reconciliation journal entries to the general ledger
Prepare monthly financial reports for Home Office
Reconcile bank statements, set up wires and ACHs, and maintain banking relationships
Prepare renewal reports and supervise renewal-team workload
Prepare monthly bond-list and management reports
Review increase/decrease invoices and releases/cancellations
Prepare and review complex renewals
Report and maintain payroll, PTO records, and personnel files
Liaise with parent-company payroll and employees

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of accounting experience with supervisory responsibility
Strong knowledge of AP, AR, reconciliations, and revenue reporting
Insurance agency accounting experience preferred
Experience coordinating with carriers to resolve accounting and commission discrepancies
Ability to supervise, mentor, and support accounting staff and consultants
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Administrative and process improvement experience
Familiarity with AI and automation tools to modernize accounting and back-office processes and improve operational efficiency
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred
Minimum four years of experience in accounting, including receivable and payable experience
Insurance brokerage/related industry accounting background preferred
Excellent knowledge of both operational and financial accounting
Working knowledge of insurance-based management systems highly desired
Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence
Final candidates must complete post-offer verification processes
