About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and execute key components of new business and renewal processes for small commercial insurance accounts
  • Maintain timelines and processes, including exposure analysis, quote specifications, coverage-offer analysis and negotiation, and proposal preparation and presentation
  • Create and execute account marketing strategies based on risk characteristics, coverage lines, business operations, and market analysis
  • Exercise independent judgment in placing accounts with alternative carriers
  • Communicate with Client Advisors, Account Service Team, and insurance markets
  • Collaborate with Client Advisors in client-facing discussions on marketing strategy and placement outcomes
  • Review insurance policies and contracts and recommend improvements
  • Prepare property and casualty insurance submissions, including insurance specifications, ACORD applications, loss summaries, prospect profiles, and exposure schedules
  • Maintain relationships with insurance companies and wholesalers and monitor carrier appetites and market trends
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information
  • Use rating tools and carrier systems for quoting and proposal development
  • Maintain licensing requirements, including continuing education
  • Attend seminars, company meetings, carrier events, and educational activities
  • Perform coverage gap analysis and provide strategic coverage recommendations
  • Work independently and collaboratively on special, nonrecurring, and ongoing projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Excellent phone etiquette, written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong critical thinking, financial analysis, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyze complex market data and influence placement outcomes
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while accepting direction on assigned projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Experience with Applied/EPIC agency management system preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to document accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment while delivering outstanding customer service
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance markets and basic applicable insurance coverages
  • Ability to develop and deliver professional proposal presentation documents
  • Minimum of 3 years of insurance industry experience, focused on small/mid commercial account placements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance carrier markets and placement strategies
  • Current Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license required
  • Professional insurance designations such as CRM, CISR, CIC, AAI, ARM, or CPCU preferred, or active pursuit of one
