About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and execute key components of new business and renewal processes for commercial insurance accounts
  • Maintain timelines and processes, including exposure analysis, quote specifications, coverage-offer analysis and negotiation, and coverage proposal preparation and presentation
  • Create and execute marketing strategies based on risk characteristics, large deductibles, captives, and market analysis
  • Evaluate alternative risk financing mechanisms, including large deductible programs and captive structures
  • Strategize and build insurance towers for higher coverage limits beyond standard primary policies
  • Exercise independent judgment when placing accounts with alternative carriers
  • Conduct year-end book reviews for select accounts
  • Collaborate with Client Advisors, Account Service Teams, carrier partners, and markets
  • Review insurance policies and contracts and recommend improvements
  • Prepare property and casualty insurance submissions, including insurance specifications, ACORD applications, loss summaries, prospect profiles, and exposure schedules
  • Analyze Excel exposure and loss data and develop financial models for loss-sensitive programs when necessary
  • Maintain relationships with insurance companies and wholesalers and monitor carrier appetites and market trends
  • Use carrier rating tools and systems to support quoting and proposal development
  • Maintain licensing requirements, including continuing education
  • Attend seminars, company meetings, carrier events, and educational activities
  • Perform coverage gap analysis and provide strategic coverage recommendations
  • Work independently and with teams on special, ongoing, and nonrecurring projects
  • Identify opportunities to engage Risk Resources for specialized expertise

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of relevant insurance experience, with an emphasis on mid-to-large commercial account placements
  • Excellent phone etiquette, written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong critical thinking, financial analysis, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex market data and influence placement outcomes
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and accept direction on given assignments
  • Proficient with MS Office products, including a high knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Experience with Applied Epic a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure document accuracy
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment with strong customer service skills
  • Experience with a broker/agent, including marketing large middle market accounts to carriers; excellent knowledge of the markets
  • Strong knowledge of all basic applicable insurance coverages
  • Proficient in creating required proposal presentation documents
  • Must currently hold an applicable insurance license
  • Pursuit of a professional designation—CRM, CISR, CIC, AAI, ARM, CPCU—preferred
  • College degree preferred
