About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of employee benefits clients
- Develop and maintain client relationships and understand client needs, objectives, and challenges
- Conduct client meetings to review benefit programs and discuss improvements
- Provide strategic advice on health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans
- Analyze benefit programs and recommend enhancements
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes affecting benefits strategies
- Design and implement employee benefits plans aligned with client objectives and budgets
- Negotiate plan terms, pricing, and services with insurance carriers and vendors
- Oversee implementation of new benefits plans
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, Section 125, SPD, FSA, HRA, Form 5500, and COBRA
- Assist with enrollment, claims, and employee communications
- Conduct benefits education and prepare communications materials
- Address client and employee inquiries
- Mentor junior account managers and support staff
- Collaborate with sales, underwriting, customer service, and other internal teams
- Participate in cross-functional service delivery and operational efficiency initiatives
- Serve as primary group-level contact for day-to-day requests, account oversight, and critical issue escalation
- Coordinate pre-renewal strategy and planning, including meetings, marketing, quoting, plan analysis, and presentation materials
- Present renewals, recommend benefit options, and confirm client decisions
- Support marketing, renewal, and open enrollment activities with the account executive/broker
- Provide expertise on eligibility, claims, COBRA, underwriting guidelines, and employee benefits compliance
- Delegate tasks to support team members and ensure timely completion
- Maintain expertise in Applied Epic, Microsoft Office, Ease, Employee Navigator, Suvaun, and other supported technology tools
- Pursue professional development and continuing education
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Required insurance license(s)
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- High degree of critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Attention to detail, producing outcomes with minimal errors
- Understanding of insurance concepts and applicable law as related to employee benefits
- Ability to adapt to changing direction and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced proficiency with technology, including MS Office
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently, and as part of a team
- Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred, or equitable experience
- Five+ years’ experience servicing employee benefit clients in the small and large group segment
- Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- L&H license required
- Experience with Applied Epic, Microsoft Office, Ease, Employee Navigator, Suvaun, and other agency-supported technology tools
