About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain APIs, workflows, integrations, and tooling supporting underwriting and policy administration systems
  • Write modular, maintainable code and ask for help when needed
  • Implement operational workflows with engineering leads and underwriting/business stakeholders
  • Contribute to integrations between internal systems, external vendors, and policy administration platforms
  • Participate in debugging, testing, automation, monitoring, and operational support for production systems
  • Improve internal engineering tooling and developer workflows
  • Use AI-assisted engineering workflows daily, including Claude Code and similar tools
  • Learn insurance domain concepts including quoting, binding, endorsements, rating, forms, and policy lifecycle
  • Take ownership of evolving requirements and turn them into practical technical solutions
  • Report to the Engineering Team Lead and collaborate with engineers, the Delivery Lead, underwriting/business stakeholders, internal systems, and external vendors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1–3 years of software engineering experience
  • Strong Python or JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals
  • Experience building or maintaining APIs, workflows, integrations, or internal tooling
  • Ability to deliver assigned features and components with moderate independence
  • Comfortable working with evolving requirements and asking thoughtful clarifying questions
  • Experience with testing, debugging, automation, monitoring, and production support practices
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools; Claude Code experience strongly preferred
  • Interest in learning or applying insurance, underwriting, or policy administration domain knowledge
  • Comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership
  • Candidates must be able to work in the United States; the employer is not able to sponsor visas for this position
  • Full-time employment; C2C and C2H employment are not offered
