About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide field oversight support for the Natural Resources Management Systemwide Program on the Defensible Space team
  • Perform inspections, data entry, reporting, and project management
  • Inspect routine vegetation control and maintenance around PG&E facilities and assets
  • Conduct desktop reviews of assigned inspection areas
  • Collect spatial data within the approved GIS platform
  • Complete inspection reports with narratives, road conditions, recommendations, photos, and maps
  • Oversee contractors performing construction and maintenance work
  • Conduct safety engagements and report safety hazards, concerns, and nonconformance
  • Develop project scopes of work, coordinate with agencies, and procure vendor pricing
  • Inspect for vegetation needs supporting safe access, operations, maintenance, and fuel reduction
  • Assess, identify, map, and mark hazardous or conflicting trees for removal
  • Conduct environmental reviews and advise on required protection measures
  • Supervise vegetation control and property management crews and monitor contractor safety
  • Provide professional guidance and maintain compliance with laws, regulations, permits, and ERTCs
  • Observe and report crew progress, safety issues, resources, hours, treatment effectiveness, and environmental impacts
  • Collect work data and update electronic databases
  • Consult with PG&E personnel and agencies on environmental, customer, permitting, notification, and project issues
  • Confirm projects have required environmental permits and documents
  • Coordinate pesticide applications with PCA and obtain Pest Control Recommendations
  • Coordinate vendor projects, job walks, and safety issue identification
  • Identify property owners and secure written permission when requested by PG&E
  • Identify, classify, flag, and mark watercourses, riparian areas, wetlands, springs, meadows, and other environmentally sensitive areas
  • Establish boundaries with paint and flagging as directed by PG&E
  • Visit active project construction and maintenance sites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management, Forestry, or related field or meets minimum years of experience
  • 5 years’ experience in Forestry or related field or Vegetation Management
  • Senior-level capability performing or leading inspections, data entry, reporting, and project management
  • Strong understanding of forestry and vegetation management
  • Basic knowledge of GIS applications
  • Ability to review, accept, coordinate, and facilitate tasks with minimal oversight
  • Ability to recognize day-to-day tasks in advance and work cross-functionally
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Experience leading vegetation, rodent, and property management activities
  • Data entry and synthesis skills
  • Ability to operate a GPS collection device
  • Proficiency with Maps+ and Field Maps applications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, including look-ups and pivot tables
  • Ability to multitask and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with senior management
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and good judgment
  • ISA certification, TRAQ, OSHA30, and Bachelor’s degree in Forestry are preferred
