About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Patrol utility distribution or transmission circuits in accordance with vegetation management plans, standards, and processes
- Identify hazard trees and required tree work along PG&E rights-of-way
- Inspect, evaluate, prescribe, and document tree pruning, removal, and brush-clearing work
- Determine trim timing and whether trimming or removal is necessary
- Notify property owners and agencies about planned tree work and obtain required authorizations or permits
- Plan, direct, and coordinate assigned tree-clearance crews
- Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
- Perform work-verification inspections and verify tree-work completion and quality
- Investigate and document tree-related outages and attend outage meetings
- Manage vegetation-management tags, EC notifications, cases, and customer-related field work
- Support emergency response, dispatch tree crews, and field-check sites
- Support oversight of vegetation projects, including tree assessment and trimming operations
- Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings
- Act as a customer-relations representative for PG&E
- Coordinate among contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, PG&E workgroups, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with permits, traffic-control plans, railroad and Caltrans permits, and environmental protection measures
- Complete electronic and paper-based documentation, reporting, mapping, and database updates
- Maintain contact with PG&E personnel, public agencies, and customers
- Independently complete assigned tasks and perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- Required to maintain a Class C driver’s license
- One (1) year experience as a VMI or equivalent on utility contract
- Must reside within 50 miles of Sacramento, CA
- Ability to identify local trees and knowledge of growth rates
- Ability to learn and use company- or job-specific software systems
- Ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
- Ability to read and follow maps
- Proficient in electronic devices and documentation
- Ability to use computers, associated software, hand-held devices, and an iOS-compatible mobile device
- ISA Certified Arborist preferred
- 2-year or 4-year college degree in a related field preferred
Benefits
Comp & perks- $11.36 per hour in lieu of benefits for every eligible hour worked
- $50.00 daily subsistence payment for each day worked in excess of 4 hours

- Per-diems or other region-specific benefits may be available as eligible
