About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Patrol for hazard trees and perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines
  • Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate assigned tree-clearance crews
  • Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
  • Serve as liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers
  • Perform circuit patrols according to annual vegetation-management plans and standards
  • Identify, prescribe, and document required tree work along PG&E rights-of-way
  • Notify property owners and agencies and obtain necessary authorizations for tree work
  • Perform work-verification inspections and investigate/document tree-related outages
  • Track, field-check, prescribe work, and notify customers for assigned vegetation-management tags and cases
  • Support emergency response, including dispatching tree crews and field-checking sites
  • Support oversight of vegetation projects, including tree assessment and trimming
  • Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings
  • Act as a customer-relations representative on behalf of PG&E
  • Coordinate among contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, PG&E workgroups, and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with permits, traffic-control plans, railroad and Caltrans requirements, and environmental measures
  • Complete electronic and paper documentation and reporting
  • Maintain contact with PG&E personnel, public agencies, and customers
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Required to maintain a Class C driver’s license
  • One (1) year experience as a VMI or equivalent on utility contract
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Marysville or Yuba City, CA
  • Ability to identify local trees and knowledge of growth rates
  • Ability to learn and use company- or job-specific software systems
  • Ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Ability to read and follow maps
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and documentation
  • Ability to use computers, hand-held devices, and iOS-compatible mobile devices
  • Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist
  • Preferred: 2-year or 4-year college degree in a related field

Comp & perks
  • $11.36 per hour in lieu of benefits for every eligible hour worked
  • $50.00 daily subsistence payment for each day worked in excess of 4 hours
