About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the company's tax compliance function end-to-end
  • Own the global tax compliance calendar across all entities and jurisdictions
  • Track deadlines, extensions, estimated payments, and tax notices
  • Manage external tax advisors and preparers in each country
  • Scope engagements, set timelines, manage information requests, review deliverables, and manage fees against budget
  • Audit and reconcile trial balances, fixed asset registers, apportionment data, intercompany activity, and sales data to the general ledger
  • Own tax reporting, including the income tax provision, related balance sheet accounts, deferred tax schedules, and tax footnote support
  • Reconcile tax accounts monthly as part of the close
  • Prepare and/or review sales and use tax filings across U.S. jurisdictions
  • Monitor nexus and registration requirements and maintain exemption certificate compliance
  • Manage sales tax software and filing cadence
  • Respond to tax notices, inquiries, and audits with outside advisors
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready filing documentation
  • Coordinate cross-border matters with the UK finance team and international advisors
  • Support transfer pricing documentation, withholding tax, and intercompany charge compliance
  • Build and maintain the tax compliance playbook, standardized checklists, data request templates, and tracking dashboard
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and recommend actions to the CFO
  • Support tax-related analysis for business initiatives, entity changes, and transactions
  • Oversee staff as the role develops and grows

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in a corporate or public accounting tax environment
  • Big 4 experience required (PwC, Deloitte, EY, or KPMG)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field from a top-tier university
  • Hands-on exposure to multi-state income/franchise tax and sales and use tax compliance
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 and the income tax provision process
  • Ability to manage multiple outside service providers, competing deadlines, and stakeholders across functions and geographies
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong reconciliation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to international tax compliance, VAT/GST, or transfer pricing preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, NetSuite, or Xero preferred
  • Experience with sales tax platforms such as Avalara or Vertex preferred
  • Experience in a private equity-backed, multi-entity, or distribution/inventory-based business preferred
  • Experience in a smaller company or in-house environment where processes were built or improved preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Ability to stand and walk occasionally
  • Ability to sit for long periods and continually use hand and finger dexterity
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25kg
  • Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision; ability to adjust focus
