About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and operate service-oriented Java backends based on Spring Boot in a Kubernetes environment
Design, document, and version high-performance REST APIs
Enhance existing integrations, including beA, Microsoft 365, and webhooks
Contribute to the development of new modules
Model data, optimize queries, and perform migrations on SQL databases under real-world load conditions
Assume operational responsibility according to the “you build it, you run it” principle
Implement observability through logging, metrics, and tracing
Identify and monitor system capacity limits
Actively contribute to ISO 27001 compliance through auditability, traceable data flows, and robust access controls
Work with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
Develop and maintain REST APIs, with asynchronous processing patterns planned for the future
Use Microsoft Graph API, beA/KSW adapters, webhooks, and n8n
Use SCA tools, automated unit and integration tests, and quality gates in the pipeline

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 5 years of professional software development experience
At least 3 years of experience with Java and Spring Boot in production systems
Experience operating production systems with high quality and security requirements
Solid understanding of REST API design, service-oriented architecture, and relational data modeling under real-world load conditions
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, and operations
Active and thoughtful use of coding agents, such as Claude Code
Ensure that generated code remains reviewable, testable, and maintainable
Structured and analytical mindset
Ownership of developed systems, including their operation
Clear communication within the team
Very good German language skills
Experience in regulated and sensitive domains such as legal tech, data protection, auditability, or multi-tenancy is a plus
Knowledge of ISO 27001 from a developer’s perspective is a plus
Knowledge of asynchronous processing patterns is a plus
