About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a new and growing team of engineers, designers, QA, and accounting specialists
Act as the team's engineering manager while building it out
Own delivery plans, progress reporting, trade-offs, and risk communication to the executive team
Set technical direction with the tech lead and senior engineers
Make decisions about how AI agents safely act on financial data
Lead and measure an AI-first, spec-driven development process
Improve the AI-first development process as the team learns
Hire and grow the team and establish working standards
Coordinate scope and dates with dependent teams, including permissions, approvals, and workflow
Undertake other reasonable duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience leading engineering for accounting, billing, payments, or other systems where numerical accuracy is critical, including regulated or audited money flows
Experience taking a new platform from first commit to paying customers
Experience building and running multi-tenant SaaS products
Experience moving an engineering organization to AI-driven development, with measurable results
Uses AI coding tools and has led a team that builds with them
Experience leading distributed teams across time zones, including contractors
Ability to explain trade-offs and delivery risk plainly to senior executives
Experience with legal, trust, or professional-services accounting software is desirable
Leads through managers and tech leads and raises the hiring bar
Makes sound decisions with incomplete information and changes course based on data
Explains complex technical trade-offs simply to executives and non-technical colleagues
Coaches and grows engineers and engineering managers
Builds trust across teams, functions, and time zones
Holds a high bar for quality and owns outcomes, not just activity
