About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead several teams through their engineering managers
Set direction, standards and priorities for a group of teams
Develop and grow engineering managers
Work with product to turn the AI roadmap into production features with permissions, privacy and audit built in
Build shared platform capabilities for agents, APIs, search, data and workflow across Actionstep products
Establish evaluation, observability and cost discipline for AI features
Bring teams onto Actionstep's AI development lifecycle and make delivery predictable
Lead a group split between North America and Asia-Pacific, including some early or late calls
Report to the CTO
Collaborate with engineering, product, design, executive, finance, implementation and customer teams
Undertake other reasonable duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

Director-level leadership: led multiple teams through engineering managers
Shipped AI or agent features in a production SaaS product, including evaluation, permissions, observability and cost management
Moved an engineering organization to AI-driven development and can show what changed with data
Uses AI coding tools and has led teams that build with them
Built services and APIs that other teams and outside developers depend on
Built software handling confidential or regulated data
Led teams across distant time zones
Experience with search, data platforms, workflow engines, or legal/professional-services software is desirable
Leads through managers and tech leads and raises the hiring bar
Makes sound decisions with incomplete information and adapts based on data
Explains technical trade-offs to executives and non-technical colleagues
Coaches and develops engineers and engineering managers
Builds trust across teams, functions and time zones
Maintains high quality standards and owns outcomes
