About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and maintain the technical architecture, engineering standards, and technology roadmap for Acuity's Product Data Management system
  • Architect end-to-end distributed systems emphasizing scalability, high availability, fault tolerance, and loose coupling
  • Design and optimize multi-tier cloud environments using AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Apply cloud-native patterns, infrastructure-as-code, and cost-effective resource management
  • Define API design, lifecycle management, and service integration standards for REST, GraphQL, and gRPC
  • Guide architectural decisions across Python, C# (.NET), and Java ecosystems
  • Champion clean architecture, domain-driven design, and classic design patterns
  • Lead database topology decisions across relational SQL and NoSQL stores
  • Architect asynchronous, event-driven platforms using messaging and streaming systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ
  • Collaborate with platform engineering on CI/CD automation, observability, automated testing, and secure deployment pipelines
  • Drive adoption of self-service internal developer platforms and architectural guardrails
  • Evaluate and incorporate AI, machine learning pipelines, and LLM integrations
  • Translate business objectives into technical roadmaps and align engineering, product, and executive stakeholders
  • Coach and mentor staff engineers, technical leads, and development teams
  • Communicate distributed-system concepts, platform constraints, and technology investments to senior and non-technical executives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with significant architecture responsibility
  • Strong experience with enterprise application design
  • Experience defining architecture for large-scale business-critical applications
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and microservices concepts
  • Experience with Azure, CI/CD, DevOps, security, monitoring, and operational excellence
  • Experience working within Agile and SAFe delivery models
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted software development practices
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or Product Information Management platforms
  • Experience in commerce, quoting, ordering, manufacturing, supply chain, or digital-product ecosystems
  • Experience with event streaming, API management, cloud-native architecture, and modernization programs
  • Experience leading architecture reviews, technical strategy, and portfolio-level technology decisions
