About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and commission camera, computer, and network systems for deployment on public roads.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess location suitability before deployment.
  • Develop and test new hardware configurations and solutions.
  • Investigate and resolve escalated technical issues involving camera and network systems.
  • Provide remote guidance to field teams and Electrical and Technical Officers.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues methodically, escalating when appropriate.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, system build procedures, and QA records.
  • Keep fleet management and knowledge base systems accurate and up to date.
  • Train and support installation and maintenance team members on systems and processes.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on hardware and fleet.
  • Prepare maintenance and repair reports following field activities.
  • Respond to client requests professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers, Service Technicians, and the broader Delivery team.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Hands-on and curious; experience building computers, tinkering with systems, or working in a lab or test environment.
  • Ability to find simple solutions to complex problems without over-engineering.
  • Strong learning agility and ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
  • Clear and precise written communication skills.
  • Reliable team player who takes ownership of commitments.
  • Persistence and composure under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in structured environments, following procedures and quality standards.
  • Tertiary qualification (TAFE or University) in electronics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience building, configuring, or maintaining computer hardware and systems.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including switches, VLANs, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Strong written communication skills, including technical documentation.
  • Full driver licence.
  • Willingness to travel nationally on occasion.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Pre-employment checks, including driver licence history and police check.
  • Desirable: background in mechatronics, instrumentation, or embedded systems.
  • Desirable: experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems or command-line environments.
  • Desirable: experience in a test, lab, or R&D environment.
  • Desirable: familiarity with networking equipment and infrastructure.
