About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Directly manage a small interface development team, including hiring, performance reviews, career development, and day-to-day technical direction
Own the design, build, and support of HL7 v2.x and FHIR-based integrations, including SMART on FHIR app authorization flows
Connect AHS, Praxis Health, and Interpath Laboratory systems with EMRs, clearinghouses, laboratory instruments, and external partners
Lead modernization of interface tooling and processes to reduce integration turnaround time
Champion AI-assisted development practices for mapping, validation, documentation, and testing while maintaining human review for PHI-related work
Partner with the Software Development Manager, clinical operations, and business stakeholders to prioritize interface work
Establish and maintain data-quality, security, and compliance standards consistent with HIPAA requirements
Perform computer operations, occasional errands, and work involving extended periods of sitting

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of .NET/C# development experience
2+ years in a team lead, tech lead, or people-management capacity with direct reports
Direct, hands-on experience with HL7 v2.x messaging and clinical data exchange
Direct, hands-on experience with FHIR and SMART on FHIR, including app launch and authorization flows such as OAuth2/UDAP and CDS Hooks
Experience delivering software in a healthcare or other regulated industry
Comfort using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot in daily work
Preferred: hands-on experience with InterSystems IRIS for Health
Experience with other engines or middleware such as Mirth Connect or Rhapsody, EMR/EHR integration, and BI/reporting tools such as SSRS and Power BI is valued
