About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Architect, implement, and maintain backend services for file storage, permission synchronization, and third-party integrations at enterprise scale
Design and build event-driven systems for real-time permission propagation across Addepar’s financial graph and external storage providers
Meet compliance revocation SLAs
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, security, and compliance partners on sensitive data access-control projects
Contribute to migration efforts such as FileVault to Box, webhook consolidation, and folder structure evolution
Ensure zero-downtime production rollouts
Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices
Build AI-powered capabilities for intelligent file processing, automated metadata extraction, and content-aware workflows
Evaluate emerging third-party file platform capabilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or similar technical field of study
Experience with server-side languages such as Java, Python, or C++
Experience with relational databases including MySQL, Postgres, or SQL Server
Ability to complete complex projects involving partners across multiple teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future visa sponsorship
Must be authorized to begin work in the U.S. on the first day of employment
Bonus: Experience building scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS
Bonus: Experience working with file system vendors
