About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan with AI, steer coding agents, and critically review their output
- Work directly with business colleagues to gather requirements, agree on approaches, and deliver working software
- Make architecture and data-model decisions that keep systems fast and reliable as the company scales
- Take ownership of existing applications and build new solutions for the affiliate business
- Design and develop event-driven backend systems handling large volumes of product and campaign data
- Develop primarily in Rust and partly in Python
- Own topics end to end and keep the team and stakeholders informed
- Participate in a strong engineering culture through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and improving tools and ways of working
- Collaborate with business colleagues and explain technical trade-offs in plain language
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience contributing to a strong engineering culture through code reviews, knowledge sharing, or improving team tools and ways of working
- Daily hands-on experience with coding agents, including planning with AI, delegating implementation, and critically reviewing output
- Strong architectural awareness and ability to select appropriate components and infrastructure
- Rust experience, or curiosity and readiness to make Rust the main language
- C or C++ experience is a strong alternative
- Experience with e-commerce, affiliate marketing, Google Shopping, Google Ads, or other data-heavy web platforms is ideal
- Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, or similar
- Solid grasp of the full engineering process, including requirements, design, trade-offs, testing, and maintainability
- Mid- or senior-level experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- Business-fluent English (C1 or higher)
- Frontend experience with TypeScript/Next.js is a plus but not required
