About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with summer on-farm scouting and spatial research in the Corn Belt
  • Scout research trials in varied areas and environments
  • Implement trials and collect data, working in groups to execute accurate in-field trial work and plant collections
  • Process plant samples and conduct subsequent data collection and data entry at research facilities
  • Participate in soil sample collection efforts as needed
  • Work with others on a team and independently
  • Communicate effectively with growers, agronomists, and full-time employees
  • Gain experience in general agronomy, plant pathology, leadership, data collection, and evaluation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Agriculture or Science degree track preferred
  • Willingness and ability to work under on-farm and in-field conditions
  • Understanding of current farming practices is beneficial
  • Must be task/project driven and able to work independently and in group settings
  • Must exhibit a growth mindset and desire for continuous learning
  • In general, expected to work 40 hours/week; hours over 40 may sometimes be required and approved in advance
  • Willingness to relocate may be needed for positions near Huntington, IN; Champaign, IL; or Ames, IA
