About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and maintain automated test coverage across unit, integration, and end-to-end tests as a shared, versioned part of the codebase
  • Build and maintain tooling for fast, reliable feedback, including CI pipelines, test environments, synthetic data, and monitoring hooks
  • Identify test coverage gaps and advocate for closing them with evidence
  • Surface risk so the pod can decide whether to ship, delay, or ship with a flag
  • Bring a user's-eye view into planning, identifying edge cases and failure modes early
  • Lead root-cause analysis on production issues, focusing on systemic fixes
  • Track quality trends including flakiness, escaped defects, and time-to-detect
  • Pair with engineers on testing strategy and spread testing skills across the pod
  • Build features and fix bugs alongside the pod

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience in a quality or test engineering role on a product engineering team, or equivalent experience as a software engineer with a strong testing focus
  • A track record of building automated test coverage in a real production codebase
  • Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines and test infrastructure, such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CircleCI
  • Experience leading or contributing to root-cause analysis on production incidents
  • Solid coding ability in Python, strong enough to write production code rather than just test scripts
  • Confidence designing test strategy for a feature from scratch, knowing what to automate and what to leave to exploratory testing
  • Working knowledge of testing types relevant to the product, such as API, load/performance, or data pipeline testing
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tooling, such as Datadog or Grafana, to build signal into dashboards
