About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design automation and SCADA systems for mechanical and electrical systems serving complex data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate with mechanical design teams to develop control sequences, diagrams, and points lists
  • Coordinate with electrical design teams on network architectures and points lists for electrical distribution and conditioning systems
  • Coordinate with ICT design teams on structured Ethernet cabling interfaces
  • Design resilient OT networks using Ethernet and serial networks with wireless, fiber, and copper media
  • Develop basis of design for BAS, PLC, and PMS controllers, instrumentation, and software, including datasheets
  • Develop and tailor controls, instrumentation, cybersecurity, and power monitoring technical specifications
  • Apply BAS, EPMS, and PLC protocols and network requirements
  • Verify compliance with US codes and engineering standards
  • Work with templated models, tracking and justifying changes from client models
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for cohesive designs
  • Attend project meetings and calls during flexible hours
  • Manage schedules and meet budget expectations
  • Travel occasionally for client meetings, project milestones, onsite collaboration, or business-critical activities
  • Collaborate with global AECOM teams on high-profile data center projects for global clients
  • Perform hands-on, client-facing work with opportunities for career mobility

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree with 6 plus years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Four years of work experience as an Instrumentation and Control Engineer (I&C) Engineer or controls contractor creating controls submittals
  • Experience with BAS and PLC control system platforms
  • Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (PMS/EPMS)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with colocation and hyperscale data center projects
  • Experience with US codes and standards
  • Experience with data center or other mission critical environments
  • Experience with Operational Technology Networks
  • Experience with SCADA platforms and specifying technical cybersecurity requirements
  • Familiarity with BAS, EPMS, and PLC protocols including Modbus, BACnet, and EtherNet/IP
  • Ability to verify compliance with applicable US codes and engineering standards/practices
  • Ability to work flexible hours and attend project meetings/calls
  • Ability to meet schedule and budget expectations, multitask, and adapt to project deadlines
  • Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future
