About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join AECOM's Overhead Catenary Systems Engineering team in Philadelphia
- Perform planning, conceptual engineering, design, final engineering, constructability, and cost estimating
- Oversee junior engineers on mid- to large-size projects
- Apply knowledge of rail design, rail operations, railroad construction, OCS, traction power substations, signals and communications systems, and track layout
- Develop OCS layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams, and technical specifications
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local OCS regulations
- Work on projects for major transit agencies
Requirements
What you’ll need- BA/BS Engineering or related field and 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience in the design and analysis of overhead electrification systems
- Experience with project scopes and design phases from preliminary design through construction
- Preferred: Experience designing auto-tensioned and fixed termination systems
- Preferred: Experience with simple catenary and single contact wire/trolley wire
- Preferred: Experience with both AC and DC systems
- Preferred: Experience utilizing AutoCAD and MicroStation
- Knowledge of STAAD, LPile, and MathCAD
- Experience developing specifications and cost estimates
- Experience with construction staging and design around active railroad
- Familiarity with construction and installation practices
- Ability to provide instruction, management, and oversight to junior engineers
- Eligible to work in the United States; sponsorship may be available for current U.S. visa holders
