About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design and development of water and wastewater process solutions
- Produce and review process engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances and technical specifications
- Provide technical leadership, solve complex engineering challenges and support project delivery
- Participate in and contribute to HAZOP, HAZID and other process safety reviews
- Prepare process safety documentation, including Hazardous Area Classification and LoPA assessments
- Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards and industry best practice
- Collaborate with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
- Support Southern Water’s £4.8bn investment programme across water and wastewater projects from concept through delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry/Biological Science
- Chartered status, or demonstrable learning and development on course to achieve chartered status
- Water industry experience
- Ability to design and develop water and wastewater process solutions
- Experience producing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances and technical specifications
- Ability to provide technical leadership and solve complex engineering challenges
- Experience participating in HAZOP, HAZID and other process safety reviews
- Experience preparing Hazardous Area Classification and LoPA assessments
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and industry best practice
- Ability to work with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams
