About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct biological compliance monitoring during active construction projects
  • Survey for special-status wildlife and nesting birds
  • Prepare technical reports documenting survey and monitoring findings
  • Prepare biological technical reports and permit application packages as needed
  • Maintain strong relationships with AECOM, client, and construction personnel
  • Organize project files and track project schedules
  • Support California surface transportation projects and transportation clients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science field
  • 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring in California
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy
  • Ability to travel independently
  • US Citizenship required
  • Knowledge of common and special-status California wildlife species
  • Experience surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California
  • Proficiency in technical writing
  • Central Coast California plant identification skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptability to changing priorities
  • Preferred: 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience conducting aquatic resources delineations is desired but not required
  • Experience supporting transportation projects is desired but not required
  • Experience with California Coastal Commission justification and ESHA analysis is desired but not required
