About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct biological compliance monitoring during active construction projects
- Survey for special-status wildlife and nesting birds
- Prepare technical reports documenting survey and monitoring findings
- Prepare biological technical reports and permit application packages as needed
- Maintain strong relationships with AECOM, client, and construction personnel
- Organize project files and track project schedules
- Support California surface transportation projects and environmental sustainability initiatives
- Work remotely part-time on an on-call basis
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related environmental science field
- 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in biological surveys and monitoring in California
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy
- Ability to travel independently
- US Citizenship required
- Knowledge of common and special-status California wildlife species
- Experience surveying and monitoring special-status and protected species in Central California
- Proficiency in technical writing
- Central Coast California plant identification skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Adaptability to changing priorities
- Positive attitude
- Aquatic resources delineation experience desired but not required
- Transportation project experience desired but not required
- California Coastal Commission justification and ESHA analysis experience desired but not required
