About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support development of autonomous behaviors, machine perception, and robotic control systems for unmanned aerial systems and other advanced platforms
- Assist in designing, implementing, and testing computer vision, object tracking, target detection, GNC, state estimation, autonomous behavior, path planning, and multi-vehicle coordination algorithms
- Develop and debug autonomy software on simulation platforms and real hardware
- Collaborate with teammates on testing, data collection, and experimental design
- Participate in code reviews and multidisciplinary integration efforts
- Document and present findings in internal reports or presentations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work alongside skilled engineers with mentorship and support in a collaborative R&D environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field
- Coursework or project experience in robotics, autonomy, or computer vision
- Proficiency in C/C++ (modern standards like C++11 or later preferred)
- Familiarity with Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis or prototyping
- Interest in UAS, robotics, or autonomous systems
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and work in a hands-on environment
- Applicants must provide documentation verifying U.S. person status under ITAR/EAR; some positions require current U.S. citizenship
- Experience with ROS is preferred
- Familiarity with vision-based perception, trajectory planning, GNC algorithms, control systems, embedded systems, SWaP devices, simulation tools, real-time systems, or experimental robotics is preferred
- Involvement in robotics competitions, clubs, or research projects is preferred
- Ability to work in an office and R&D lab environment
- Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for long periods
- Occasional hands-on work with robotic systems, test setups, and hardware integration
