About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate and provide instruction on Unmanned Air Systems (UAS), Tactical Missile Systems (TMS), and Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) in the field
- Participate in the AeroVironment Master Trainer Training Program (MTTP) according to the Master Trainer Training Manual (MTTM)
- Ensure field operations follow established procedures and are conducted safely
- Conduct UAS, TMS, UGV equipment, and material inventories
- Advise Master Commanders, customer representatives, and controlling authorities of changes affecting planned training field operations
- Maintain the operational status of UAS/TMS/UGVs and supporting systems
- Monitor air or ground vehicle location, in-flight status, and threats
- Monitor on-site conditions and intended flight paths
- Re-evaluate risk assessments and mitigate elevated risks
- Complete documentation for field operations, equipment status, data collection, and post-flight procedures
- Capture information for after-action reports and lessons-learned databases
- Resolve routine issues using company policies and procedures
- Analyze limited-scope problems using standard practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience
- Prior military experience or equivalent training experience in an aircraft/aerospace manufacturing firm
- Prior military instructor/Special Operations experience highly desirable
- Special Forces, SEAL, Special Tactics, Ranger, Force Recon/MARSOC, Scout, Forward Observer, TACP, or Aviation backgrounds preferred
- Willingness to travel regularly and for extended periods within the continental United States (CONUS)
- Willingness to travel regularly and for extended periods outside the continental United States (OCONUS)
- Solid understanding of military tactics, operations, GPS, and navigation using map and compass
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work with little or no supervision and exercise independent judgment
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, blueprint, or sketch instructions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with office software and productivity tools
- Ability to lead, train, and mentor small groups of students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to lift and move 11–20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather and traverse uneven ground and varying terrain
- Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods
- Ability to repeatedly throw objects up to 16 lbs. over shoulder
- Good manual dexterity to assemble and disassemble products
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be willing to work on government contracts and have the ability to obtain a security clearance
- Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR or be eligible for an export license
