About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implement and optimize computer vision and perception algorithms using C++
  • Configure build systems with CMake and target low-SWaP embedded processors such as Nvidia Xavier/Orin
  • Integrate video processing and perception pipelines into unmanned aerial systems
  • Support benchtop testing, test and evaluation, demonstrations, and operationally relevant field experimentation
  • Develop documentation, technical reports, and presentation inputs for customers and stakeholders
  • Create software design documentation according to software process requirements and senior engineer guidance
  • Write code according to coding standards, create tests, and validate software
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts
  • Deliver work according to completion dates, project schedules, and budgets
  • Derive algorithm designs from detailed software requirements
  • Collaborate with software developers to design and reuse software across programs
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
  • Build productive internal and external working relationships
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics is required, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in software engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in C/C++, including common data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and development workflows
  • Experience with CMake and modern C++ build systems
  • Experience with Python for tooling, scripting, and prototyping
  • Experience with Ubuntu and/or CentOS Linux operating systems
  • Experience writing unit tests and debugging code
  • Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with source code configuration management tools such as Git, IDEs, and debuggers
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance; active clearance is a plus
  • Willingness to travel within the continental U.S. (Frequent / 50%+)
  • Willingness to obtain or already have an FAA Part 107 certification to operate small UAS
  • Experience with DDS, gRPC, and Rust preferred
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning and Computer Vision concepts
  • Ability to work in an office environment
  • Collaboration with external developers and customers
