About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Medium Unmanned Aircraft Systems (MUAS) Product Line organization and steward its growth
  • Own product line orders, pricing, investment allocation, customer satisfaction, and Profit & Loss
  • Report financial drivers, customer dynamics, and market dynamics in business reviews
  • Lead development of the annual operating plan and five-year product line plan
  • Collaborate with leaders on synergies and strategy and support company-level strategy development
  • Model AeroVironment values and leadership competencies
  • Manage project prioritization and trade-offs across the technology portfolio
  • Build internal and customer buy-in for product and technology vision
  • Lead budgeting for product line R&D, sustaining activities, and other investments
  • Own pricing decisions and evaluate current and future business opportunities
  • Approve bid/no-bid and pricing gate reviews for new business opportunities
  • Assess product and project risks and provide feedback on mitigation and contingency plans
  • Establish, track, and analyze product line performance metrics and address issues or opportunities
  • Manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines with agility
  • Identify and manage organizational and customer conflicts
  • Improve relevant development processes and ensure adherence
  • Supervise a core team of direct reports and coordinate resources from AeroVironment functions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years relevant experience, including extensive first-hand knowledge of the UAS military market
  • Understanding of emerging commercial verticals, especially infrastructure inspection, security, agriculture, and related enterprise B2B segments
  • Working knowledge of UAS airworthiness certification processes with the FAA and other worldwide bodies for military and civil applications
  • Experience in product road mapping, R&D, and product sustainment activities
  • Experience with business development and sales involving defense products and customers
  • Experience managing a department or project budget
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results; self-starting and self-directed
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
  • Working knowledge of AeroVironment systems and products and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or related/relevant field, or combination of education and experience
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with office software, productivity tools, and other software tools
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and exercise judgment to determine appropriate action
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and empower people to deliver organizational goals
  • Ability to champion change and promote rapid adaptation
  • Ability to develop and maintain trusting professional relationships
  • U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain government security clearance
  • Secret clearance level
  • Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR requirements or be approvable for an export license
