About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establish and scale the operating foundation for Affirm’s new bank
  • Own implementation, configuration, and administration of Finxact as the Bank’s core system of record
  • Own operational delivery and management of Savana and integrated digital account-opening, online, and mobile banking experiences
  • Translate customer and operational needs into requirements
  • Lead user-acceptance testing, release readiness, issue resolution, and platform improvement
  • Lead operational launch readiness, including operating-model design, procedures, staffing, training, testing, cutover, go/no-go evidence, hypercare, and transition to business-as-usual operations
  • Direct daily deposit operations, reconciliations, ACH and wire processing, exceptions, account maintenance, regulatory reporting, and fraud-investigation support
  • Direct lending operations, including underwriting and eligibility validation, funding approvals, loan boarding, journal entries, and reconciliation
  • Oversee loan purchase and sale operations, settlement, boarding validation, and audits
  • Build and maintain the Bank’s operational control environment, procedures, maker-checker controls, access reviews, quality assurance, issue remediation, and audit readiness
  • Partner with Compliance on BSA/AML, OFAC, consumer-protection, privacy, funds-availability, payments, complaint, and other applicable requirements
  • Manage oversight of affiliate-provided services and critical technology, payments, document, and operations vendors
  • Monitor vendor performance, capacity, releases, incidents, control reports, continuity, disaster recovery, and manual workarounds
  • Lead and develop the Bank Operations team through capacity planning, cross-training, performance management, succession planning, and escalation coverage
  • Establish operational metrics and provide reporting and recommendations to Bank leadership
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Lending, Compliance, Risk, Information Security, Fraud, Customer Care, Internal Audit, and third parties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in banking operations, digital banking, financial technology, or core-platform delivery
  • Meaningful experience leading teams and operating in a regulated financial institution
  • Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, converting, or administering a core banking platform
  • Experience with Finxact or another modern cloud-native, API-first core strongly preferred
  • Experience owning digital account-opening and online or mobile banking platforms
  • Experience coordinating integrations, user-acceptance testing, releases, production support, and vendor-driven change
  • Deep working knowledge of deposit and lending operations, including ACH, wires, checks and in-clearing, account funding, reconciliations, general-ledger impacts, exception management, loan funding and boarding, and loan purchase or sale settlement
  • Ability to design and operate effective controls, including segregation of duties, approval authorities, reconciliations, access management, quality assurance, issue management, recordkeeping, and audit or regulatory-examination support
  • Strong understanding of bank regulatory and risk expectations applicable to deposit, lending, payments, third-party, consumer-protection, privacy, business-continuity, and operational-resilience activities
  • Experience managing critical technology and operations vendors, service levels, incidents, root-cause analysis, remediation commitments, and executive escalations
  • Excellent judgment, analytical problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is expected
  • Familiarity with SQL, data pipelines, and business-intelligence tools is a plus
  • Willingness to provide periodic after-hours support for releases, cutovers, material incidents, and business-continuity events
  • Must be able to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
